Forrestania (ASX:FRS) see a path of LCT in the Eastern Goldfields
August 9, 2023Forrestania Resources’ rock chip sampling has returned highly anomalous levels of lithium and LCT pathfinders, suggesting the potential for highly fractionated and fertile pegmatites over its large tenement package in the Eastern Goldfields of Western Australia.
With around 22 kilometres of previously untested granite and greenstone, it offers a potentially large scale LCT pegmatite province to explore over holdings Forrestania considers to be highly prospective for multiple commodities.
Forrestania Managing Director Michael Anderson said the company’s maiden work programs over its Eastern Goldfields assets had proven to be very encouraging.
“The initial identification of multiple outcropping pegmatites has now been followed by these highly anomalous results, which demonstrate the obvious prospectivity of the tenements. We will continue our systematic mapping and sampling to identify priority targets, to be drilled as soon as possible,” Mr Anderson said.
Lithium pegmatite rock chip results
- 1,695ppm Li (3,649ppm Li2O or 0.4% Li2O)
- 1,345ppm Li (2,896ppm Li2O or 0.3% Li2O)
- 483ppm Li (1,040ppm Li2O or 0.1% Li2O)
LCT pathfinder results
- 183ppm Nb (and 878pp Li2O)
- 162ppm Cs (and 704ppm Li2O)
- 2,100ppm Rb (and 523ppm Li2O)
- 128ppm Ta (and 172ppm Li2O)
- 96ppm Be (and 65ppm Li2O)
Forward plan
Forrestania’s focus will now be directed on the significant lithium, copper, and gold potential of its Breakaway Dam and Alexandra Bore project area, with mapping and sampling programs underway and assays pending for additional samples.
In order to fully characterise the lithium mineralisation and understand the host minerals, more mapping and sampling will soon be underway, with a view to launching a maiden drilling campaign.
The Perth-based company also has a new lithium venture to explore in Canada after securing a 50:50 stake in the Hydra project, covering 300 square kilometres near several major regional discoveries in a white-hot James Bay lithium province.
And closer to home, Forrestania is already planning follow-up drilling at its namesake project after getting a strong whiff of a potentially extensive lithium-bearing pegmatite system and is soon expecting a full suite of assays from its RC campaign.
