White Cliff Minerals (ASX:WCN) strikes copper in Canada’s arctic frontier

In the high latitudes of Nunavut, Canada, a little-known patch of tundra is starting to heat up—thanks to an impressive copper strike by White Cliff Minerals (ASX:WCN).

The company’s first assay from its maiden drilling campaign at the Rae Copper Project has delivered a thick, high-grade copper hit, sending a strong early signal that this project could be one to watch.

Highlights

  • 58m @ 3.08% Cu and 13.3g/t Ag from 52m in hole DAN25003

  • Includes 18m @ 5.21% Cu and 22.33g/t Ag from 69m

  • Assays pending from remainder of drilling and surface sampling

  • Pre-collar drilling underway at Hulk sediment-hosted copper target

The drill results come from the Danvers prospect, where the company has been conducting reverse circulation drilling on its 100%-owned Rae Project.

While early drilling campaigns often return modest findings as geologists orient themselves, White Cliff Minerals has defied that trend with a standout intercept of nearly 60 metres grading over 3% copper.

“The first holes at Danvers were all about orienteering and exploration to identify the mineralisation, so therefore, having the first assay produce an intersection of just shy of 60 meters at more than 3% is an outstanding way to kick off the results,” said Managing Director Troy Whittaker.

Adding to the excitement is the fact that these assays complement high-grade rock chips already sampled at surface, including previous results of up to 64% copper.

The company now has both surface and downhole proof of high-grade copper in the system—critical for building confidence as it maps the broader mineralised zone.

Work is also advancing at the neighbouring Hulk target, where pre-collar drilling to depths of ~180m is setting the stage for diamond drilling to chase down sediment-hosted copper, a style of mineralisation reminiscent of deposits in the Central African Copperbelt.

“With the team on site really dialling in to the geology,” says Whittaker, “these results set the scene for what’s to come”

If early signs are anything to go by, White Cliff may be on the cusp of revealing one of the Arctic’s more intriguing copper stories.
