White Cliff Minerals (ASX:WCN) expands copper frontier in Canada’s North

There’s nothing like a second drill rig to send a message that a company is ramping up the hunt in earnest.

White Cliff Minerals (ASX:WCN) has done just that at its Rae Copper Project in Nunavut, Canada, and early signs suggest that decision is well-founded.

The company’s Danvers prospect continues to grow in scale and promise, with new zones of chalcocite-bornite-malachite mineralisation now discovered on surface across a 250 metre strike.

More impressively, a second high-grade zone has been identified 4 kilometres to the southwest, with rock chip assays returning standout values including 16.15% copper and 68.5g/t silver.

Both targets are now being tested with an expanded reverse circulation (RC) drilling program, while deeper sedimentary copper targets at the Hulk prospect are being pursued with a diamond rig.

Highlights

  • Two rigs drilling concurrently at Rae, with 1,702m of RC and 547m of diamond drilling completed

  • New copper-bearing zone discovered at Danvers, extending footprint

  • High-grade surface samples southwest of Danvers include 16.15% Cu and 68.5g/t Ag

  • Drone-based geophysical (MobileMT) survey underway, results due August

  • Initial assay results from drilling expected later in Q3

White Cliff Minerals Managing Director Troy Whittaker said both rigs were making strong progress, with early visual indicators pointing to the potential for a major copper system.

“Pleasingly, the team in a short space of time after remobilisation have identified significant potential upside at the Danvers deposit, with new, previously unidentified potential copper rich zones being identified.”

Meanwhile at Hulk, the company is drilling into a key redox boundary, where reducing sedimentary rocks of the Rae Group meet oxidised basalt and sandstone units, an environment recognised globally as highly prospective for sediment-hosted copper systems.

“Drilling has intersected reducing sedimentary units… a critical redox interface known to be highly prospective for copper sulphide precipitation.”

These geological characteristics echo those found in major copper-producing districts such as the Kupferschiefer in Europe and the Central African Copperbelt.

While still early-stage, White Cliff has now confirmed the presence of all key ingredients necessary for a sediment-hosted copper system.

As part of its broader program, the company is also leveraging drone-based MobileMT geophysics to map conductivity anomalies across the Danvers lease.

These results, expected in August, will inform the next round of targeting, particularly in areas where glacial cover obscures outcrop but subtle topographic indicators suggest continuation of mineralisation.

“The Coppermine Region in Nunavut remains one of the most underexplored frontiers for sediment-hosted copper systems… White Cliff finds itself in an enviable position.”

With assay results due in the current quarter, attention will soon shift from surface sampling and visual observations to hard numbers.

If assays validate what is being seen in the field, White Cliff may well be on the cusp of defining a new frontier copper district in Canada’s remote north.

Drilling momentum builds at Danvers and Hulk
With a 75km strike length under tenure, high-grade surface samples, and supportive geology, White Cliff’s Rae Project is shaping up as one of the more intriguing sediment-hosted copper plays in the current exploration cycle.
