Patagonia (ASX:PL3) prepping the Lithium Triangle

Fresh off its IPO, Patagonia Lithium are gearing up in South America’s lithium triangle and have contracted Southern Geophysics to complete a magnetotellurics 14-kilometre line survey to define the strata, potential,
aquifers and basements of its Cilon and Formentera salt basins in Northern Argentina.

Past historical exploration has recorded elevated lithium levels as shallow as five metres below the surface, and results from the geophysics program will be crucial in spotting the hole locations for a comprehensive maiden drill campaign in a region host to the massive lithium deposits, which comprise around half of the earth’s total.

While magnetotellurics has been used over the past 70 years, upwards scaling of software and hardware, have made wide-spanning surveys and massive tractable 3D inversions possible for deep, cheap, low-impact exploration — and will even be used to examine the electrical conductivity of the interior of the Moon.

Formentera and Cilon salars stands as the company’s lithium-prospective flagship, in one of the largest depressions of the Puna, forming a massive Salar basin covering more than 500 square kilometres of Argentina.

And when combined with the Tomas III project at Incahuasi Salar, it gives the freshly listed explorer a trio of brine projects in proven districts to strike with wide-spanning exploration.

Patagonia lived up to its pre-IPO promise to hit the ground running and will soon have targets on hand to hit it drilling.
