Nordic Resources (ASX:NNL) lifts Kopsa resource to 1.52Moz AuEq
Nordic Resources has completed an interim resource update at its Kopsa deposit in Central Finland, increasing the estimate by 86% to 1.52Moz AuEq within an optimised pit shell.
The estimate incorporates 9,631m of diamond drilling, includes silver for the first time and applies updated metallurgical recovery estimates and commodity price forecasts.
Highlights
Kopsa resource of 44.0Mt at 1.07g/t AuEq, reported above a 0.4g/t AuEq cutoff.
86% of Kopsa’s AuEq ounces classified as Measured and Indicated.
Combined district resources of 55.2Mt at 1.09g/t AuEq for 1.93Moz AuEq.
A 12,000m drilling program underway, with approximately 8,500m planned for Kopsa.
The update incorporates drilling completed and reported to the end of July 2026, comprising 32 new holes and 6 hole extensions drilled between July 2025 and May 2026.
The resource contains 1.18Moz of gold, 71kt of copper and 3.50Moz of silver, supported by a qualifying database of 232 drill holes covering 33,065m.
Gold equivalent calculations use prices of US$3,500/oz for gold, US$14,000/t for copper and US$60/oz for silver.
Applied recovery factors are 88%, 89% and 79%, respectively, based on Kopsa’s 2026 metallurgical results and recommendations from the company’s metallurgical consultant.
Kopsa is a near surface deposit hosted within a hydrothermally altered tonalitic intrusive complex, where mineralisation occurs within quartz sulphide stockwork systems and as disseminations in altered host rocks.
The highest grade portions contain densely developed veining, enveloped by broader mineralised halos with geological continuity laterally and at depth.
Most of the known higher grade stockwork mineralisation is classified as Measured and concentrated in the Central Zone.
This core starts at surface and may provide the basis for a potential starter pit, while the optimisation captures approximately 97% of the in situ AuEq inventory and returns an estimated waste to ore strip ratio of approximately 4:1.
Metallurgical testwork completed by Blue Coast Research demonstrated that the mineralisation is amenable to conventional grinding, flotation and leaching, producing a copper gold silver concentrate and doré.
Testing confirmed that a single conventional flowsheet can be applied across the deposit, with consistent recoveries across the principal mineralisation styles and the tested grade range.
Nordic Managing Director Robert Wrixon said,
“NNL currently has a rig drilling at Angesneva in addition to the ongoing drilling at Kopsa. The Company looks forward to reporting new results over the coming months”.
The company’s Kopsa, Kiimala Trend and Hirsikangas projects are located within 70km of each other in the Middle Ostrobothnia Gold Belt.
Regional processing infrastructure includes the Pyhasalmi plant, which remains in reduced operation 40km east of Kopsa, and the Laiva plant, located 120km northwest and currently on care and maintenance.
The next phase at Kopsa combines drilling to expand the resource base and increase resource confidence, with campaign results intended for the next estimate, anticipated in Q2 2027.
Parallel exploration includes further drilling at Kiimala’s Angesneva deposit and Vesipera prospect, alongside testing additional gold prospects along the trend.
These programs are expected to support an updated consolidated resource estimate by the middle of 2027.
Subject to the updated estimates, Kopsa is expected to advance to a Scoping Study, providing the first assessment of development options and project economics.
