Nordic Resources (ASX:NNL) final Kopsa step out drilling returns significant gold copper intersections
Nordic Resources has reported the final results from its Q2 2026 drilling program at the Kopsa gold copper project in central Finland, with 3 step out diamond drill holes returning significant gold copper intersections in the southwestern part of the deposit, completing the Q2 2026 drilling program at Kopsa.
Results from the Kopsa metallurgical program are expected during Q3 2026, after which the company intends to compile the new information into an updated resource statement for Kopsa.
Highlights
3 final Q2 2026 diamond drill holes, totalling 1,223m, were completed in the southwestern zone of the Kopsa deposit.
The holes were collared 90m to 160m beyond previous drilling and each returned more than 100m of significant, semi continuous downhole mineralisation.
Significant intersections included 34m @ 0.92g/t Au and 0.12% Cu, 60m @ 0.67g/t Au and 0.20% Cu, 29m @ 0.79g/t Au and 0.13% Cu, 23m @ 0.93g/t Au and 0.20% Cu, 33m @ 0.62g/t Au and 0.17% Cu, 44m @ 0.40g/t Au and 0.20% Cu, 47m @ 0.66g/t Au and 0.17% Cu, and 40m @ 0.39g/t Au and 0.15% Cu.
The company reported more than A$10M in cash at the end of March 2026.
The 3 drill holes were completed as step outs into the southwestern zone of the Kopsa deposit, between 90m and 160m beyond previous drilling.
According to the company, 2 holes started outside the host intrusion and intersected the hanging wall at relatively shallow depths, while all 3 holes returned more than 100m of significant, semi continuous downhole mineralisation.
The company also reported excellent continuity with previously drilled mineralisation and stated that the new holes extended the mineralised zone by more than 100m beyond the existing resource boundary in most places.
The announcement includes plan and cross sectional views showing the newly reported drill holes alongside previously reported drilling, the current Mineral Resource Estimate outline and historical drill hole locations.
The announcement states that the 2025 and 2026 drilling completed at Kopsa has not yet been incorporated into an updated resource for the project.
According to the company, the majority of the 2025 and 2026 drill holes were designed to test strike and depth extensions, while the remainder were generally in fill holes testing gaps within the current block model.
The company also reported that the northern footwall contact had been tested in a number of locations during the past 12 months, while the tonalite contact remains untested in most other locations.
The announcement states that continuity of gold mineralisation is observed to be particularly strong in the southeastern and southwestern directions, where a significant volume of the host tonalite intrusion remains to be tested.
Nordic Resources Managing Director Robert Wrixon said the latest drilling tested a large volume of previously untested tonalite to the southwest for the first time.
“Results exceeded expectations as the mineralised zones not only continue but also widen in this direction, with strong continuity both along, and between, the sections.”
Nordic Resources said the Kopsa deposit currently hosts a JORC 2012 compliant Mineral Resource Estimate of 23.2Mt @ 1.09g/t AuEq for 814,800oz AuEq across the Measured, Indicated and Inferred categories.
The company also reported a combined resource inventory across its 3 Middle Ostrobothnia Gold Belt projects of 34.3Mt @ 1.11g/t AuEq for 1.23Moz AuEq, comprising 1.04Moz of contained gold and 38kt of contained copper across all resource categories.
The company confirmed that the material assumptions and technical parameters underpinning the resource estimates continue to apply and have not materially changed.
Nordic Resources said it intends to compile the new drilling information into an updated resource statement for Kopsa once the Q3 2026 metallurgical results are obtained.
