Nelson Resources (ASX:NES) advances Yarri Gold Project with Native Title and Mining Agreement

Nelson Resources has signed a Native Title and Mining Agreement (NTA) with the Wangkatja Tjungula Aboriginal Corporation RNTBC (WTAC) for its Yarri Gold Project, located near Kalgoorlie in Western Australia.

The agreement marks a significant milestone, removing any impediments to the grant of mining leases, and advancing the project towards development readiness.

Highlights:

The Yarri Gold Project, which sits on the land of the Nyalpa Pirniku People, has now cleared a major legal and regulatory hurdle with the signing of the NTA.

This agreement formalises the rights and obligations of both Nelson Resources and the local Aboriginal community, ensuring that cultural heritage is respected and providing ongoing opportunities for employment and social development, with WTAC granting consent for Nelson to carry out activities on the Yarri Gold Project tenements, including exploration and future mining operations.

Nelson Resources’ Chairman, Gernot Abl, stated,

“The signing of this Native Title and Mining Agreement represents a significant milestone in advancing the Yarri Gold Project towards development readiness. We are very pleased to have reached this agreement with WTAC and the Nyalpa Pirniku People following a constructive and respectful engagement process. This agreement provides a clear pathway for the grant of mining leases and demonstrates a shared commitment to responsible development, ensuring cultural heritage is respected while delivering economic opportunities for all stakeholders.”

The Yarri Gold Project benefits from its location in the Kalgoorlie region, one of the most prolific gold-producing areas in the world.

The NTA now paves the way for the next phase of the project, which will involve a significant drilling campaign and continued exploration.

MEGA Resources, an Australian subsidiary of Bain Global Resources, is fully funding the development of the project, with up to $10M in capital to be allocated towards advancing the project to a decision to mine.

With a planned drilling program of approximately 11,544m, including an initial 3,000m campaign, MEGA is well-positioned to manage all permitting, approvals, and operational activities at the Yarri Gold Project, ensuring that Nelson Resources has the financial backing and expertise to move the project forward in a timely and efficient manner.

The Yarri Gold Project is progressing rapidly towards development. With the NTA in place and significant funding secured, Nelson is on track to complete the necessary exploration work and advance towards a decision to mine.

The company’s focus will now shift to completing the planned drilling programs and further advancing the project’s development, while maintaining a commitment to responsible and sustainable mining practices.
