Nelson Resources (ASX:NES) identifies copper gold exploration target at Cinnamon Property in Nevada

Nelson Resources has identified a copper gold exploration target at its Cinnamon Property in Nevada, USA, following the evaluation of geophysical survey data, hyperspectral mapping, reconnaissance mapping and rock chip sampling.

The company outlined the Sheba target after reconnaissance rock chip sampling returned results including gold, silver, copper, zinc and lead grades, with priority target areas also identified across the Cinnamon Property.

Highlights

The Sheba target was identified through Nelson’s evaluation of recently received geophysical survey data and hyperspectral mapping, together with reconnaissance mapping and sampling across the Cinnamon Property.

Initial reconnaissance mapping within a strong magnetic high adjacent to the Ophir target identified narrow veins and faults cross cutting volcanic breccia.

Rock chip samples collected from the volcanic breccia returned 1.95g/t Au and 40.3g/t Ag from sample M389776, with additional base metal results including 0.287% Cu and 0.98% Zn from sample M389778 and 6.63% Pb from sample M389776.

Since acquiring the Cinnamon Property, Nelson has compiled and integrated high resolution airborne magnetic and radiometric geophysics, hyperspectral AVIRIS alteration mapping, reconnaissance mapping and sampling.

The company states that evaluation of this dataset has delineated a strong hydrothermal system underlying the property along a major regional fault corridor.

Nelson Non Executive Chairman Gernot Abl commented:

“In a short time frame we have secured Cinnamon, flown high-resolution geophysics, completed hyperspectral analysis and already delivered a copper-gold discovery.”

The company has identified Ophir as a near surface tungsten target associated with intense epidote chlorite alteration, an iron oxide hyperspectral footprint, favourable limestone host rocks and a newly mapped quartz monzonite intrusion.

Nelson states that Ophir remains a priority for tungsten skarn mineralisation.

The Cinnamon Property is interpreted by Nelson to host prospective Luning Formation carbonate rocks immediately west of Guardian Metal Resources’ Pilot Mountain Project.

The company’s primary exploration model is for intrusive related tungsten skarn mineralisation, with potential for associated polymetallic mineralisation including copper, silver and zinc.

Priority target areas identified on the Cinnamon Property using geophysical and hyperspectral data include Sheba, Ophir, Levant, Malabar and Serica.

The company has outlined follow up activities across these areas, including detailed prospecting, mapping and sampling programs.

The company’s planned work includes detailed prospecting, geological mapping and systematic rock chip sampling at the Sheba copper gold target and Ophir tungsten target.

Structural mapping and trace element geochemical sampling will also be undertaken at Levant, Malabar and Serica to identify fluid conduits and vector toward potential deeper mineralisation.

The Cinnamon Property comprises 186 BLM lode claims in the Pilot Mountains Mining District, Walker Lane, Nevada.

The company identifies the primary commodity focus as copper gold at Sheba and tungsten skarn at Ophir, with secondary potential for silver, zinc, lead and related polymetallic mineralisation.

The planned work at Cinnamon includes detailed prospecting, geological mapping and systematic rock chip sampling across the Sheba and Ophir targets, alongside structural mapping and trace element geochemical sampling at Levant, Malabar and Serica.
