Miramar Resources (ASX:M2R) extends Highway gold footprint to over 600m strike at Gidji

Miramar Resources (ASX:M2R) extends Highway gold footprint to over 600m strike at Gidji

April 1, 2026 Off By MarketOpen

Miramar Resources has expanded the scale of shallow gold mineralisation at its 80%-owned Gidji JV Project, with recent RC drilling defining a coherent mineralised system over more than 600m of strike at the Highway Prospect, located 15km north of Kalgoorlie.

The results reinforce the emerging footprint of near-surface gold within a well-established mining district and provide a clearer framework for potential resource definition.

Highlights

  • RC drilling confirms shallow gold mineralisation over at least 600m of strike at Highway
  • High-grade intercepts include 3m @ 9.45g/t Au, including 1m @ 23.11g/t Au
  • Mineralisation defined at vertical depths between 47m and 56m
  • Work underway to assess potential for one or more shallow gold resources
  • Resource geologist engaged, with closer-spaced RC drilling planned
  • Additional RC drilling planned at the Claypan Prospect following heritage survey

The latest drilling builds on earlier aircore work, with combined datasets now outlining coherent shallow gold mineralisation across a meaningful strike extent.

At Highway, mineralisation sits within a shallow profile, with intercepts consistently occurring between 47m and 56m vertical depth, supporting a clearer understanding of the geometry of the system.

Geologically, the Gidji JV Project occupies approximately 15km of strike along the Boorara Shear Zone, which hosts several gold deposits along strike.

Despite its proximity to multiple gold mining and processing operations, the project has historically been underexplored due to shallow transported cover and the presence of the Gidji Paleochannel, which crosscuts prospective basement geology.

Since late 2020, Miramar has undertaken systematic aircore drilling that has identified multiple supergene gold zones and defined bedrock targets for deeper drilling.

The Highway Prospect is one of several discoveries made at Gidji and is located approximately 150m west of the Goldfields Highway.

Current drilling at Highway is spaced at approximately 50m, which remains relatively broad for resource definition, with planned follow-up work focused on closer-spaced RC drilling to better define grade and thickness continuity.

Attention is also turning to the Claypan Prospect, located approximately 200m east of the Goldfields Highway and along strike from the Crossroads deposit and the Kanowna Belle gold deposit.

Historical drilling at Claypan has identified sporadic bedrock gold mineralisation over approximately 1km of strike, associated with the contact between a mafic intrusive unit and granite offset by a north-south fault.

The prospect also straddles a major unconformity within the Black Flag Beds, which has a spatial association with major gold deposits in the district.

Miramar’s Managing Director, Ms Marion Bush, said

“The shallow gold at Gidji, in particular at the Highway Prospect, presents us with the potential to become a self-funded explorer. We’ve now engaged a resource geologist to help us review what we’ve already discovered and to help plan our next steps.”

Beyond Gidji, the company is preparing for an auger drilling campaign at its 100%-owned Chain Pool Project in the Gascoyne region, where sampling has outlined sedimentary exhalative style copper, lead and silver mineralisation at the Joy Helen prospect.

This programme will be the first drilling at the project since 1964, although mobilisation has been delayed due to the effects of Tropical Cyclone Narelle.

Within the context of the Eastern Goldfields, the expansion of shallow mineralisation at Highway and the identification of additional targets at Claypan provide a structured pathway toward further drilling and evaluation.

Near-term activity is expected to focus on infill drilling at Highway and initial RC testing at Claypan, aimed at refining the scale and continuity of gold mineralisation across the Gidji JV Project.
