Kuniko (ASX:KNI) defines multiple new drill targets across Commonwealth Silica Hill Project
Kuniko has completed a comprehensive integrated geophysical review of its Commonwealth Silica Hill Project in New South Wales, identifying multiple new high priority exploration targets across the broader project area.
The review was completed in conjunction with Resource Potentials and integrated recent MobileMT work with historical gravity, magnetic and induced polarisation datasets into a single targeting framework.
Highlights
Multiple new drill targets have been confirmed for gold and silver, with targets located within 1km of the existing Commonwealth Silica Hill Gold Silver Project across historically underexplored ground.
The review identified a prospective corridor extending for ~4 km across the broader Commonwealth Silica Hill Project, including the Silica Hill South East Extension where mineralisation remains open for more than 500m to the south east.
A strong DDIP chargeability anomaly located approximately 400m north east of Walls Mine remains untested by drilling and has been identified as a high priority exploration target.
The integrated review identified a series of discrete gravity lows within a broader prospective corridor extending south and south east of Commonwealth Main, Commonwealth South and Silica Hill, and east to the Welcome Jack corridor comprising Welcome Jack, Walls Mine and Stringers Mine.
The review combined gravity, magnetic, MobileMT and IP datasets, with several anomalies coinciding with multiple geophysical responses.
Kuniko reported that these datasets provide multiple independent geophysical vectors for drill targeting, while known mineralisation at Silica Hill occurs along the margin of a prominent gravity low that provides geological calibration for similar gravity signatures elsewhere across the project area.
The review identified repeated gravity lows across the broader project area, including a large cluster south of the existing Commonwealth Main, Commonwealth South and Silica Hill deposits.
The company stated that these features may represent additional concealed intrusive and associated hydrothermal centres, with many targets receiving little or no previous drilling.
The Silica Hill South East Extension has been identified as a high priority near term drill target.
Known gold and silver mineralisation at Silica Hill is spatially associated with the margin of a prominent gravity low, with downhole silver assays defining mineralisation along a gravity gradient extending more than 500m to the south east beyond current drilling.
The company also highlighted the relationship between drilling results and the geophysical interpretation, with Phase 1 drill hole CMKNI004 intersecting 3.4m @ 50 g/t AuEq, 4.1 g/t Au and 2,947 g/t Ag from 227.5m, including 0.5m @ 347 g/t AuEq, 27 g/t Au and 20,603 g/t Ag.
The mineralised position remained open both up dip and down dip following Phase 1 drilling, with subsequent Phase 2 drilling extending the interpreted mineralised system by approximately 100m from up dip to down dip.
Kuniko Managing Director Maja McGuire said the review had enhanced the company’s understanding of the geological architecture surrounding the Commonwealth Silica Hill Project.
"The completion of the integrated geophysical review marks an important milestone for the company. By combining recent Mobile MT work by us, and historic gravity, magnetic and IP datasets, we have significantly enhanced our understanding of the geological architecture of the broader area surrounding the existing Commonwealth Silica Hill Project and generated a pipeline of compelling new exploration targets."
The company’s upcoming work programs include priority permitting for the Silica Hill South East Extension, Walls Mine and Stringers Mine, fine fraction multi element soil geochemistry across interpreted intrusive centres, targeted PDIP and AMT geophysical surveys, completion of the ongoing Phase 2 diamond drilling program and an updated JORC Mineral Resource Estimate incorporating results from Phase 1 and Phase 2 drilling programs.
Kuniko’s Commonwealth Project is located ~100 km north of Orange, NSW, within the Lachlan Fold Belt.
The project comprises the Commonwealth Main and Commonwealth South deposits, described as a polymetallic VMS style system, and the Silica Hill deposit, described as an epithermal stockwork vein system hosting high grade silver mineralisation.
