Kalamazoo Resources (ASX:KZR) completes Mt Olympus drilling ahead of resource update
Kalamazoo Resources has received the final assays from its 72 hole, 13,726m resource definition drilling program at Mt Olympus, part of its 100% owned Ashburton Gold Project in Western Australia.
The completed program adds drilling and technical data to the updated Mineral Resource Estimate targeted for Q4 2026.
Highlights
KADD0021 returned 50.0m @ 4.9g/t Au from 193.0m.
KARCD0166 returned 59.0m @ 3.2g/t Au from 206.0m, including 33m @ 4.3g/t Au from 207m.
The program returned 38 intercepts exceeding 50 gram metres, including 16 exceeding 100 gram metres.
The Ashburton Pre Feasibility Study remains targeted for Q1 2027.
The final results also include 53.0m @ 2.4g/t Au from 198.0m in KADD0024, including 39.8m @ 3.0g/t Au from 199.2m, and 14.0m @ 5.4g/t Au from 150.0m in KARCD0167.
Across the significant assay intercepts reported since the 2022 Mineral Resource Estimate, approximately 61% returned grades at or above the current Mt Olympus average Mineral Resource grade of 2.7g/t Au.
Resource definition drilling was aimed at increasing geological confidence within the existing Mineral Resource and supporting potential conversion of Inferred Resources to the Indicated category.
Drill spacing has been reduced to approximately 20m x 20m across key areas of the deposit, with the results to be used in resource estimation work and to provide technical inputs for future Ore Reserve estimation.
The interbedded conglomerate and sandstone unit represents the largest component of the current Mineral Resource.
KADD0024 and KARCD0166 intersected broad widths of gold mineralisation associated with sulphides in the conglomerate unit, while the release identifies the Zoe Fault as the principal fluid conduit for the Mt Olympus system.
Drilling has intersected mineralisation within and beyond the current resource model, including outside the resource envelope but inside the conceptual $4,000/oz Scoping Study open pit shell.
KARCD0166 also identified a deeper mineralised zone approximately 80m below that pit shell and 90m outboard of the Zoe Fault.
Results from the zone include 14m @ 2.5g/t Au from 354m and 9m @ 3.7g/t Au from 379m.
Kalamazoo reports that the mineralisation remains open at depth and down plunge to the south east.
Kalamazoo Executive Director Dr Ben Ackerman said:
“The completed program and substantially expanded technical dataset provide a strong foundation for the updated Mineral Resource Estimate targeted for Q4 2026.”
The resource update will incorporate the latest drilling, sulphur assays, geotechnical data and wireline logging, with more than 28,000 sulphur assays available for incorporation into the block model.
The Ashburton project lies 35km south east of Paraburdoo, and its mining leases historically produced 350,000oz Au between 1998 and 2004.
Kalamazoo’s disclosed work program now includes growth drilling beneath Mt Olympus and at the Peake deposit.
The updated resource estimate is due to feed into the Ashburton Pre Feasibility Study, which the company continues to target for completion in Q1 2027.
