HyTerra (ASX:HYT) start work on the Nemaha Ridge resource

HyTerra has begun work on the milestone prospective resource assessment to high-grade leads and prospects for drilling over its fully owned and operated Nemaha Ridge natural hydrogen play in the US state of Kansas.

Top-tier energy consultancy firm Sproule has been appointed to conduct the assessment, with the company’s extensive Mid-West experience expected to be a boon for HyTerra, one of the early pioneers to target the region’s untapped natural hydrogen reserves.

Sproule has demonstrated its expertise in non-hydrocarbon gases and has previously delivered several helium resource assessments for ASX-listed explorers.

The company will also have the backing of a recently acquired geophysical data suite and petrophysical database which HyTerra has been busy compiling since acquiring its fully owned asset.

“We look forward to the delivery of this independent assessment which will help us quantify the prospective resource. It is also a key input in the selection of locations for drilling and communicating the resource potential to investors, stakeholders and offtakers,” HyTerra Executive Director Avon McIntyre said.

“In parallel with our resource assessment, we are also advancing our pre-drill preparations to accelerate our operational readiness in Kansas. This will enable the Company to spud an exploration program at the earliest feasible opportunity,” HyTerra Chief Operating Officer Luke Velterop added.

Expanding hydrogen

The return of interpreted airborne gravity gradiometry and magnetic data over the Nemaha Ridge its surrounding area spurred an expansion to 9486 fully owned Kansas acres, building up its hydrogen interests alongside a United States Government seeking to accelerate its own production, processing, delivery, storage and use of hydrogen.

There are multiple historic occurrences of potentially limitless natural hydrogen across HyTerra’s leases, and the known Midcontinent Rift hydrogen source notably sits adjacent to the Nemaha Ridge structural high which provides a focus for hydrogen migration and mapping.

The Mid-West has long been a significant contributor to the United States’ energy production and offers fast, low-cost exploration close to existing infrastructure and access to offtake.

It offers a path to market much closer than might be expected, and HyTerra now await the key outcomes of a milestone resource assessment being prepared for an October delivery.

HyTerra’s holds 7,586 acres across Riley, Geary & Morris Counties, in north-eastern Kansas. Basemap includes gravity anomaly data and the distribution of recorded hydrogen occurrences in the USA with a larger circle representing higher H2%
