Horizon Gold (ASX:HRN) confirms deeper mineralisation at Snook
Horizon Gold has received final assay results from reverse circulation drilling at Snook, Cobia and Alma May within its 100% owned Gum Creek Gold Project in Western Australia.
The programs tested extensions beneath existing pits and gaps in shallow historic drilling, with work at Snook confirming gold mineralisation to approximately 230m below surface.
Highlights
Snook returned 44m @ 5.08g/t Au from 145m, including 11m @ 16.30g/t Au from 174m.
Cobia returned 21m @ 2.08g/t Au from 76m, including 15m @ 2.68g/t Au from 79m.
Alma May returned 5m @ 2.79g/t Au from 26m, including 1m @ 12.50g/t Au from 26m.
Follow up RC and diamond drilling is being planned at all 3 prospects.
Located 24.5km north of the Gidgee Mill, Snook hosts a current Mineral Resource Estimate of 0.92Mt @ 1.82g/t Au for 54,000oz, defined over a 550m strike and extending up to 70m in width.
Horizon completed 25 RC holes totalling 5,151m, targeting extensions down plunge to the south beneath the Snook North and Snook South pits.
The program included the deepest drilling at Snook to date and returned its best gram metre intercept.
Additional results included 14m @ 5.18g/t Au from 88m, including 8m @ 8.81g/t Au from 90m, and 12m @ 5.72g/t Au from 135m, including 5m @ 10.93g/t Au from 139m.
Drilling confirmed and further defined the previously interpreted steep south plunge to high grade mineralisation beneath both open pits.
Gold is associated with quartz veining within silica, sericite, carbonate and sulphide altered volcaniclastic sediments and basalt, with high grade lodes associated with, and potentially controlled by, the main sediment and basalt contact.
The announcement states that the results confirm the potential for significant resource expansion at depth, with further drilling planned before an updated estimate over the coming months.
At Cobia, 26km north of the historic Gidgee mill, 20 RC holes totalling 2,043m infilled gaps in shallow historic drilling.
Results confirmed continuity of supergene mineralisation along strike south of the open pit and the similarity of primary gold mineralisation to Snook, approximately 1km to the south.
Alma May, located 26.5km north of the historic mill, was tested with 14 RC holes totalling 964m.
The program confirmed steeply west dipping gold mineralisation associated with quartz veined limonitic saprolite, highlighting potential for a mineral resource along strike north of the open pit.
Both Cobia and Alma May have previously been mined by open cut methods and have no current resource estimates.
Horizon Managing Director Scott Williamson said,
“Infill drilling at Alma May and Cobia is on track to deliver maiden resources over the coming months, adding further scale to Gum Creek's growing resource base.”
The exploration work follows Horizon’s Open Pit Definitive Feasibility Study announced on 22 July 2026, which outlined a 2.4Mtpa gold mining and processing facility and delivered a maiden Ore Reserve of 18.2Mt @ 1.24g/t Au for 728koz of contained gold.
At Cobia, a maiden resource estimate will be completed before further drilling, while Alma May’s maiden estimate and subsequent pit optimisation will also precede additional drilling.
Underground mining opportunities and sulphide ore deposits currently remain outside the DFS scope.
