Gorilla Gold (ASX:GG8) new high grade discovery at Vivien as underground de watering set to commence
Gorilla Gold has reported new drilling results from its 100% owned Vivien Gold Project, located 10km west of Leinster in Western Australia, including a high grade discovery at the Vince Prospect, additional drilling results from the Val Prospect, and an agreement to commence de watering the fully permitted Vivien underground mine.
The exploration drilling was co sponsored by WA EIS funding.
Highlights
VIVEX012 returned 2.1m @ 55.4g/t Au from 226.9m at the Vince Prospect, located approximately 400m north of the Vivien Main underground mine.
Multiple additional gold bearing quartz veins were intersected in VIVEX012 together with an off hole DHEM conductor.
Val Prospect drilling returned 4.1m @ 5.3g/t Au from 218.8m in VIVEX016 and 7.1m @ 2.0g/t Au from 300.0m in VIVEX015.
An agreement has been executed with a subsidiary of Goldfields Ltd to de water the Vivien underground mine, with pumping due to begin in the coming weeks.
The Vivien Mineral Resource Estimate totals 2.10Mt @ 4.1g/t Au for 278,000oz.
The Vince Prospect is described by the company as a new discovery made during 2026, with exploration targeting a north east striking fault that offset and juxtaposed mafic and sedimentary stratigraphies as per the Vivien Main fault.
The company states that the mineralisation is parallel to the Vivien Main mineralisation and is considered to be a structural repeat of Vivien Main.
Multiple mineralised quartz veins were intersected over the length of the 400m drill hole, with gold mineralisation associated with the same vein assemblage seen at Vivien.
The latest drilling also returned results from the Val Prospect, located within 70m of underground development, including 4.1m @ 5.3g/t Au from 218.8m in VIVEX016 and 7.1m @ 2.0g/t Au from 300.0m in VIVEX015.
The company states that mineralisation at Val is hosted in quartz veins associated with shears within porphyritic basalts and ultramafic units that strike north north west and dip steeply east north east.
The announcement states that mineralisation remains open along strike and down dip, and that the high proportion of pyrrhotite associated with gold is responding well to down hole electromagnetic survey techniques, allowing targeted drilling.
Alongside the exploration update, Gorilla Gold announced that it has executed an agreement with a subsidiary of Goldfields Ltd to commence de watering the fully permitted underground mine at Vivien, with pumping due to begin in the coming weeks.
The company states that de watering will provide optionality for underground access for drilling, geological mapping and technical assessments as redevelopment opportunities are evaluated.
Gorilla Gold Chief Executive Officer Charles Hughes said,
“The outstanding intercept at the Vince Prospect of 2.1m at 55.4g/t from a completely new target 400 metres north of the Vivien Main underground mine shows that our simple geological model is successful in identifying additional high grade mineralisation beyond the current resource.”
The Vivien Project has a current Mineral Resource Estimate of 2.10Mt @ 4.1g/t Au for 278,000oz and has historically produced 370,000oz of gold at an average grade of around 5.5g/t Au, with underground operations occurring as recently as 2023.
Gold mineralisation has also been identified at the Gem, Rik, Deb and Val prospects.
The high grade discovery at the Vince Prospect warrants priority follow up drilling, with a rig scheduled to return to Vivien in August 2026 as DHEM crews continue completing surveys of existing drill holes.
