GoldArc Resources (ASX:GA8) expands Mt Stirling development approval
GoldArc Resources has secured approval for a western haul road and an expanded accommodation village at its Leonora North Gold Project, adding to the development footprint approved in August 2026.
The Department of Mines, Petroleum and Exploration has approved the activities proposed in an amended Mining Development and Closure Proposal covering the Mt Stirling and Mt Stirling Well deposits.
Highlights
The Approvals Statement covers 126.8 hectares across 8 tenements, bringing mining activities and supporting infrastructure under a single approval.
BML Ventures continues to fund development under a 50/50 net profit share arrangement, while GoldArc retains 100% ownership of the Mt Stirling and Mt Stirling Well deposits.
The partnership is in advanced negotiations with nearby processing plants to finalise a date to commence mining.
The approval was issued under section 103AO of the Mining Act 1978, with ore haulage and workforce accommodation now inside the approved activity envelope.
The key site infrastructure required to support mining at Mt Stirling and Mt Stirling Well is approved ahead of development.
The western haul road provides an additional approved route for ore haulage and access from the pits, providing the opportunity to better manage the site and weather events.
The updated accommodation village has been approved across L37/271, M37/1306 and M37/1313 to house the expanded operational workforce.
GoldArc Explaining the sequencing of these approvals, managing director Paul Stephen said,
“August's approval covered the pits.”
The approved activity area on M37/1306 totals 58 hectares and includes the Mt Stirling open pit, waste rock landforms, accommodation village, run of mine pad, low grade ore stockpile, dam and borefield.
M37/1305 accounts for 19 hectares, covering the Mt Stirling Well open pit and associated infrastructure, while the remaining tenements accommodate further approved activities.
GoldArc’s flagship projects are in the Leonora and Kookynie districts of Western Australia’s Eastern Goldfields.
The company holds 100% of Leonora North, which hosts a combined JORC Mineral Resource of 152,000oz at 1.7g/t Au and approximately 9km of untested strike along the Ursus Fault corridor.
The resource table identifies 26,000oz in the Indicated category and 111,000oz in the Inferred category at Mt Stirling, with a further 15,000oz in the Inferred category at Stirling Well.
GoldArc also holds Leonora South, which hosts the Orion and Sapphire deposits, containing approximately 48,000oz at 2.15g/t Au, and 4 active discovery stage prospects.
Across its projects, the company’s combined ground position covers 1,200km² and more than 75km of underexplored prospective strike.
Its strategy pursues resource growth and new gold discovery while simultaneously progressing development pathways funded by partners, working with BML Ventures at Mt Stirling and Mineral Mining Services at Orion and Sapphire.
GoldArc and BML Ventures are finalising the detailed mine schedule, incorporating the completed grade control dataset, and advancing site establishment planning, including construction of the haul road and accommodation village.
The company describes Mt Stirling as fully permitted and shovel ready, with anticipated mining commencement timing to be announced once the schedule is finalised.
Exploration reporting will continue alongside development planning, with results from the 7,000m RC discovery programme along the Ursus Fault to be released as they are received.
