Flynn Gold (ASX:FG1) commences firetower geophysical reinterpretation study
Flynn Gold has commenced a project-wide geophysical reinterpretation across its 100%-owned Firetower Gold-Tungsten-Copper Project in northern Tasmania, with Resource Potentials Pty Ltd engaged to reprocess and evaluate historical geophysical surveys and other datasets using its latest processing technology.
The study will generate high-level interpretation and targeting for follow-up exploration and drilling, with completion expected in Q4 2026.
Highlights
Resource Potentials Pty Ltd has been engaged to complete a project-wide reinterpretation of historical geophysical datasets at Flynn Gold’s 100%-owned Firetower Gold-Tungsten-Copper Project.
Historical exploration at the Firetower Project has identified a 6km corridor of anomalism extending between the Firetower West and Firetower East prospects.
Current and historical drilling at Firetower has tested less than 5% of the 6km corridor.
The study will use the latest processing software and aims to generate high-level interpretation and targeting for follow-up exploration and drilling.
The study is expected to be completed in Q4 2026.
The Firetower Project is an advanced-stage polymetallic gold-tungsten-copper project located within the north-eastern extension of the Mt Read Volcanics, one of Australia’s premier volcanic-hosted mineral provinces.
The project has previously been held by CRA Exploration Pty Ltd, Noranda Pty Ltd, Plutonic Operations Limited and Greatland Gold plc, before Flynn Gold acquired the project in 2023.
The reinterpretation covers historical geophysical surveys completed across a 6km zone between Firetower West and Firetower East.
Several generations of geophysical surveys have been completed historically across this area, with the main Induced Polarisation surveys completed to date showing similar chargeability images and highlighting an apparent continuity of mineralisation, particularly between the Firetower and Firetower East prospects.
At the Firetower deposit, gold-tungsten mineralisation identified through drilling to date is spatially associated with a zone of high chargeability, which appears to continue for several kilometres along strike.
The announcement states that the amount of drilling outside the Firetower prospect is very limited to date.
Resource Potentials Pty Ltd will undertake compilation, processing and imaging of airborne magnetic and radiometric survey data, Induced Polarisation survey data and airborne electromagnetic survey data.
The work will also include high-level interpretation and targeting to generate target areas for follow-up exploration and drilling.
Flynn Gold Managing Director and CEO Neil Marston said:
“The extensive Firetower mineralised system is largely untested by drilling so we want the best information available to determine where to explore next outside of the current focus area.”
Mr Marston said the study would take a few months to complete, with Flynn Gold expecting high-priority targets and follow-up exploration recommendations to be generated from the work.
Flynn Gold’s portfolio includes 13 100%-owned tenements located in northeast Tasmania, which the company states are prospective for gold, tin and tungsten.
The company also has the Henty silver-lead-zinc project on Tasmania’s mineral-rich west coast and the Firetower tungsten, gold and critical metals project located in northern Tasmania.
The Firetower geophysical reinterpretation study is expected to be completed in Q4 2026, including the compilation, processing and imaging of historical geophysical datasets, along with high-level interpretation and targeting to generate target areas for follow-up exploration and drilling.
