Eclipse Metals (ASX:EPM) unveils potential expansion of rare earth resources at Grønnedal

Eclipse Metals (ASX:EPM) has made compelling strides at its Grønnedal rare earth elements (REE) prospect in southwestern Greenland.

Leveraging advanced analytical techniques, the company aims to redefine the project’s scope, spotlighting its potential to rival international peers in magnet REE production.

Resource Expansion: Eclipse is reassessing six historical diamond drill holes using cutting-edge XRF technology to validate REE mineralisation.

While historical data indicates an existing resource of 1.18 million tonnes with a grade of 6,859 ppm total rare earth oxides (TREO), the potential for further expansion at depth and along strike underscores Eclipse’s ambitious vision for the project.

“The depth to which the carbonatite extends remains to be determined, but early indications point to mineralisation continuing well beyond the currently defined envelope,” noted the Eclipse Metals in its January 2025 update.

As global demand for REEs surges, driven by electric vehicles and renewable energy technologies, projects like Grønnedal are primed for strategic significance.

Preliminary XRF analysis highlights robust concentrations of magnet REEs with ratios rivalling industry leaders, and ongoing laboratory assays in Sweden are expected to further refine these findings.

In addition to REEs, Grønnedal’s mineralogical portfolio includes niobium and gallium, broadening its appeal in emerging technologies.
