Duketon Mining (ASX:DKM) mobilises drill rig for maiden Barlee gold program
March 27, 2026 Off By MarketOpenDuketon Mining has advanced its Barlee Gold Project in Western Australia toward initial drilling, with a drill rig mobilising ahead of a maiden aircore and reverse circulation program.
The project is located 200km north of Southern Cross and is owned 100% by the company.
Highlights
- Maiden aircore and RC drill program to commence at the Barlee Gold Project
- Approximately 4,000m of aircore and 1,500m of RC drilling planned
- Six gold in soil targets identified from 2025 geochemical sampling
- Targets include anomalies up to 1,800m x 800m with maximum values up to 235ppb Au
- Camp setup, track access and drill site clearance underway
- Drill rig mobilising to site
- Targets confirmed by external consultant, with additional conceptual targets generated
The planned drilling program follows a period of preparatory work undertaken over the previous five months.
This work included a heritage clearance survey with the Marlinyu Ghoorlie Native Title Group, a detailed aeromagnetic survey over a key area of the project, a project review incorporating structural interpretation and targeting, and the commencement of camp setup, track construction and drill site clearing in preparation for drilling.
Drilling is scheduled to begin in the next week and will focus on six prospects defined by geochemical sampling completed in 2025.
These include the Astro, Scooby, Tiger, Gromit, Odie and Lost Bolt prospects.
The Astro Prospect is defined by an anomaly measuring 1,800m x 800m with a maximum gold value of 204ppb before going undercover, while the Gromit Prospect records the highest value of the program at 235ppb across an anomaly measuring 1,000m x 450m.
Additional targets include the Tiger Prospect, which extends over 1,200m x 700m with a maximum value of 230ppb, and the Lost Bolt Prospect, measuring 1,700m x 1,000m with a maximum value of 211ppb.
The Scooby Prospect measures 900m x 450m with a maximum value of 57ppb, while the Odie Prospect measures 350m x 250m with a maximum value of 37ppb.
The company noted that drill targets have been confirmed by an external consultant, with additional conceptual targets generated as part of the targeting process, and that these prospects have not been drilled previously.
Duketon Managing Director Stuart Fogarty commented on the program, stating,
“This is an exciting exploration opportunity for the Company. We have undertaken considerable work in consolidating the Barlee package and generating foundational geological datasets to identify multiple high quality targets which have never been drilled previously. These targets are of significant scale and amplitude, which makes this drill program even more compelling.”
The Barlee Project program represents the first drilling test of these geochemical anomalies, with drilling scheduled to commence in the next week and comprising approximately 4,000m of aircore and 1,500m of RC drilling.
The program will target six prospects identified from the 2025 geochemical sampling campaign, with camp setup, track access and drill site preparation already underway.
The company has stated it will update the market when drilling commences, with the initial phase of drilling expected to provide the first subsurface data across these previously untested targets.
