Culpeo Minerals (ASX:CPO) commences drilling at El Quillay South
Culpeo Minerals has commenced diamond drilling at the El Quillay South Prospect, a priority copper-gold target within the company's Fortuna Project in Chile.
The 4 hole diamond drilling programme is planned for approximately 1,000m and is designed to test the strike and depth potential of a mineralised fault corridor where significant copper and gold mineralisation has been reported from historical surface sampling.
The programme is also designed to test the potential for copper-gold mineralisation associated with a porphyry-style system, with initial assay results expected in early August 2026.
Highlights
Diamond drilling has commenced at the El Quillay South Prospect within the Fortuna Project in Chile.
The programme comprises 4 diamond drill holes for approximately 1,000m.
Drilling is designed to test the strike and depth potential of a mineralised fault corridor where significant copper and gold mineralisation has been reported from historical surface sampling.
El Quillay South is located on the El Quillay Fault Zone, a regionally significant mineralised structure with substantial strike extent and multiple zones of copper and gold mineralisation.
The programme is designed to test the potential for copper-gold mineralisation associated with a porphyry-style system.
Initial assay results are expected in early August 2026.
El Quillay South is located on the El Quillay Fault Zone, which the company describes as a regionally significant mineralised structure with substantial strike extent and multiple zones of copper and gold mineralisation.
The current programme has been designed to test both the strike and depth potential of the mineralised fault corridor and the potential for copper-gold mineralisation associated with a porphyry-style system.
According to the company, Culpeo is focused on high-grade copper systems within Chile's infrastructure-rich Coastal Cordillera.
The company also states that it has recently announced a significant copper and molybdenum discovery at the Lana Corina Project and acquired the highly prospective Fortuna and copper-gold projects.
The Lana Corina and Fortuna Projects are located in Chile's Coquimbo Region, approximately 350km north of Santiago and in proximity to the Los Pelambres mine.
The company states that the project areas feature substantial outcropping high-grade copper systems and are supported by well-established regional infrastructure, including roads, power transmission lines, water sources and a strong local mining industry.
These projects form part of Culpeo's exploration activities in Chile, where the company is advancing copper exploration, discovery and development.
The current announcement reports the commencement of the drilling programme at El Quillay South.
Initial assay results are expected in early August 2026 and are expected to provide the first results from the current programme at the prospect.
The drilling programme is designed to evaluate the strike and depth potential of the mineralised fault corridor and the potential for copper-gold mineralisation associated with a porphyry-style system.
Initial assay results, expected in early August 2026, will provide the next update from the programme.
