Cooper (ASX:CPM) strike more King Solomon sulphides

Cooper Metals have wrapped up diamond drilling at King Solomon 1 with more sulphide strikes, and the campaign has successfully confirmed a strongly breccia mineralised zone in the central plunging shoot of its copper gold prospect, a small part of large Mt Isa East landholdings in northwest Queensland.

A trial downhole electromagnetic survey is underway to test the geophysical response associated with mineralisation and aid in designing a deeper campaign to test for extensions on the plunging shoots as Cooper crack into an extensive pipeline of targets.

Cooper Managing Director Ian Warland said that drilling at the prospect had successfully intersected visual sulphides in all four holes.

“As well as 23MEDH002, which intersected a strongly mineralised zone of around 11m downhole with semi massive sulphides in brecciated rocks, hole 23MEDH004 intersected around 10m down hole of strongly mineralised sulphide veins in quartz carbonate rich rock,” Mr Warland said.

Mr Warland added that all samples for assay have now been submitted to the lab, with results anticipated next month.

“A trial downhole electromagnetic survey is underway to test the mineralisation’s geophysical response and its applicability to deeper drill targeting,” he said.

“Geological logging and interpretation continues and we look forward to updating the market on the drill hole assays and geophysical results as they come to hand.”

Forward plan

Cooper will complete assays and interpretation as it plans the follow up at King Solomon and begins RC drill testing of its collection of regional copper-gold targets.

Geochemical sampling recently extended the copper-gold footprint of five drill-ready prospects across Mt Isa East, all sitting within 10 kilometres of each other and primed to be tested with a single maiden campaign.

An independent prospectivity review also returned multiple high-priority targets to add to the Cooper collection, further building an inventory of untested targets, with confirmed surface mineralisation returning rock chips as high as 17.1 per cent copper in Queensland’s famed North West Minerals Province.
