Cobre (ASX:CBE) buddies with BHP for Kalahrari exploration
Cobre Ltd will partner with BHP as part of the mining giant’s 2024 BHP Xplor Program to advance exploration plans on its Kalahari Copper Belt projects in Botswana.
BHP will give Cobre US$500,000 in non-dilutive funding, mentorship, and coaching and connect them to BHP’s network of suppliers and service providers.
Cobre owns 100% copper and silver exploration tenements in Botswana’s Kalahari Copper Belt. KML’s landholdings are adjacent to two major development projects: Khoemacau’s Expansion Project and Sandfire’s Motheo Production Hub.
BHP’s Xplor Program aims to identify new critical mineral deposits and accelerate exploration.
The program merges concepts from venture capital and early-stage accelerators to drive exploration campaigns, creating disruptive results in mineral exploration and establishing long-term partnerships with BHP.
Cobre intends to use the US$500,000 to evaluate and advance targets to host tier-one copper-silver deposits potentially.
The exploration will concentrate on the recently discovered fold hinge-related trap sites, where the mineralization is anticipated to be upgraded. This will provide an opportunity for the formation of more extensive deposits.
“The Xplor program provides us with a unique opportunity to partner with BHP experts to further our Kalahari Copper Belt targeting criteria and exploration programs,” Chief Executive Officer Adam Wooldridge said.
Cobre’s d”We’reed to have successfully made it through the rigorous selection process, which is a great accolade
for the technical merits of our team and exploration projects.“We’re looking forward to participating in the program and developing priority targets where the Xplor funding will provide further value for our shareholders”.
