Charger Metals (ASX:CHR) extends Medcalf West lithium mineralisation to depth at Lake Johnston

Charger Metals (ASX:CHR) extends Medcalf West lithium mineralisation to depth at Lake Johnston

April 1, 2026 Off By MarketOpen

Charger Metals has reported further drilling results from its 100%-owned Lake Johnston Lithium and Gold Project in Western Australia, with recent diamond drilling at the Medcalf West Prospect confirming the continuity of spodumene-bearing pegmatites at depth.

The latest assays reinforce the geological model underpinning the Medcalf system and contribute to an expanding dataset ahead of a planned resource update.

Highlights

  • 3,418m of diamond and RC drilling completed during the quarter
  • Spodumene mineralisation confirmed to at least 215m vertical depth at Medcalf West
  • Key intercepts include 6.35m @ 1.10% Li2O and 4.9m @ 0.71% Li2O
  • Combined spodumene widths of 22.35m averaging 1.36% Li2O and 119ppm Ta in hole CLMRC055DT
  • Mineralised system extends over 1,200m strike and links into the main Medcalf deposit
  • Exploration target of 3Mt to 5Mt @ 1.0% to 1.4% Li2O remains conceptual

The latest drilling campaign builds on a growing understanding of the Medcalf and Medcalf West lithium system, where stacked spodumene-bearing pegmatites form a coherent mineralised corridor extending from surface.

The geometry, characterised by steeply NW-dipping pegmatites within a ~35m thick mineralised zone, supports the interpretation of a structurally controlled system with continuity along strike and down dip.

At Medcalf West, the extension of mineralisation to at least 215m depth provides further evidence that the system is not restricted to near-surface expressions.

The continuity between Medcalf West and the main Medcalf deposit indicates that the mineralised trend extends beyond a single prospect area, with drilling intersecting lithium and tantalum mineralisation across multiple holes.

Previous RC drilling results include intersections such as 18m @ 1.46% Li2O and 11m @ 1.80% Li2O, including 7m @ 2.13% Li2O, supporting the presence of higher-grade zones within the broader system.

The geological setting is consistent with LCT pegmatite systems, where mineralisation is hosted within pegmatites intruding amphibolites and granite.

The stacked pegmatite swarms extend from surface outcrops, and drilling indicates they persist at depth, a configuration that is noted as being well suited to open pit mining.

From an infrastructure perspective, the project is located in the Yilgarn Province approximately 450km east of Perth, with four spodumene plants within trucking distance and approximately 200km to Esperance Port.

This positioning places the project within an established lithium corridor alongside existing operations and infrastructure.

Management highlighted the significance of the latest drilling in extending mineralisation and demonstrating scale continuity. As Charger Managing Director Bryan Dixon stated,

“This hole has extended the spodumene mineralisation from surface to a vertical depth of at least 215m. The Medcalf West spodumene mineralisation has a total strike length of 1,200m and extends into the main Medcalf Spodumene resource, demonstrating the scale potential of the Medcalf West spodumene Exploration Target.”

At a programme level, the company has completed 75 RC and diamond holes across Medcalf and Medcalf West, providing a growing dataset to support geological interpretation and resource definition.

Further assay results are expected over the next 5 weeks, after which the Medcalf lithium resource will be revised from the current inferred resource of 8.2Mt @ 1.0% Li2O.

In the near term, attention turns to pending assay results and their incorporation into an updated resource estimate.

The Lake Johnston Lithium and Gold Project is located in the Yilgarn Province, a region hosting established lithium operations, with ongoing drilling continuing to refine the scale and continuity of the Medcalf system.
