Celsius Resouces (ASX:CLA) confirm more shallow copper at Sagay
Celsius Resouces has finished its diamond drilling campaign over Nabig-a Hill, returning significant copper mineralisation in eight out of 12 holes and confirming more shallow mineralisation within its Sagay Copper-Gold project in the Philippine Island of Negros.
Last year’s maiden resource came in at 2 million tonnes @ 0.41% copper and 0.11g/t gold for 1.2 million tonnes of contained copper and 1 million ounces of contained gold, and this round of drilling was focused on supplementing data caps and increasing confidence of the Nabig-a Hill shallow high-grade zone.
Celsius Managing Director Peter Hume said the results from this campaign confirmed the location of copper mineralisation starting from less than 10 metres beneath the surface.
“This shallow and relatively flat oxidised zone has potential for a new development to support the phased growth of Sagay,” Mr Hume said.
“A proposed phased approach for Sagay could deliver project self-reliance towards our goal of ultimately developing the much larger porphyry Cu-Au mineralisation which exists underneath this shallow copper mineralisation and Nabiga-a Hill.”
“This potential mining opportunity is approximately one year behind the Maalinao-Caigutan-?Biyog Copper-Gold Project in approvals and has the potential for a rapid start up.”

Forward plan
The plan is for a Mining Permit application as soon as next year, and environmental and social studies have been completed for the baseline of an Environmental Impact Statement.
Metallurgical work is also ongoing, directed at providing a flow for extraction by gravity separation and set to be further refined in the mine plan and studies now in the final stages of development.
