Cavalier Resources: Turning a Gold Deposit into a Gold Mine
For many junior explorers, success is measured by discovery. Finding a new gold deposit is often the end goal, with the expectation that a larger company will eventually develop the project.
Since acquiring the Crawford Gold Project, Cavalier Resources (ASX:CVR) has focused on systematically reducing risk, securing approvals, progressing financing and establishing the foundations required to transition Crawford from a gold discovery into a producing mining operation.
Over the past 18 months, the Company has delivered an updated Prefeasibility Study, completed heritage surveys, secured key regulatory approvals, progressed project financing, strengthened its management team and recently commenced site preparation works at Crawford.
These milestones form part of the development pathway as the project advances.
Executive Technical Director and Interim CEO Daniel Tuffin said the Company has remained disciplined in executing the development pathway established when Crawford was acquired.
"Finding a gold deposit is only the beginning. The real challenge, and where value is ultimately created, is successfully developing that deposit into a profitable mining operation."
Mr Tuffin said each approval, financing milestone, engineering study and infrastructure activity represents another step toward production.
"Every approval secured, every financing milestone achieved, every engineering study completed and every piece of infrastructure established represents another step toward production."
He said mining projects are built through the execution of multiple workstreams over time.
"Mining projects are not built through a single announcement. They are built through the consistent execution of hundreds of individual workstreams, many of which happen behind the scenes."
Recent activity has centred on project execution, with site preparation now underway while broader project financing activities continue to advance.
The Company's development philosophy has remained focused on systematically removing technical, permitting, financing and operational risks before construction commences.
Mr Tuffin said the Company's objective has always extended beyond defining a resource.
"Our goal has never simply been to discover gold."
"Our objective is to build a profitable gold mine that delivers long-term value for shareholders."
The Company's focus remains on delivering the next stage of the Crawford Gold Project.
