Catalina Resources (ASX:CTN) historical review identifies significant tungsten intersections at Tallering
Catalina Resources has identified multiple significant tungsten intersections during its ongoing review of historical exploration data at the Tallering Project in Western Australia's Murchison region.
The company says the review has confirmed a previously overlooked tungsten bearing polymetallic system at the Santy Well Prospect and incorporates historical drilling, surface sampling and technical reports as part of its reassessment of the project's broader mineral potential.

The Santy Well Prospect forms part of Catalina's Tallering Project in the Murchison region, where historical exploration by several previous explorers over a number of decades focused primarily on gold and base metals through drilling, surface sampling and geological mapping.
According to the company, its review identified significant historical tungsten mineralisation associated with a broader polymetallic system that remains largely untested for tungsten.
According to the company, historical RC drilling returned several tungsten intersections.
Hole SRC006 returned 17m @ 0.178% WO₃ from 79m, including 4m @ 0.367% WO₃ from 79m, incorporating 1m @ 0.839% WO₃ from 81m, 1m @ 0.531% WO₃ from 82m and 1m @ 0.484% WO₃ from 85m, and also returned 6m @ 0.200% WO₃ from 6m, including 3m @ 0.224% WO₃ from 9m.
A second drill hole, SRC007, located approximately 100m west of the main mineralised intersection, returned 3m @ 0.154% WO₃ from 99m to the end of hole, while SRC005 intersected 1m @ 0.077% WO₃ from 52m between the two holes.
The company also reported that the historical tungsten intersections occur within the same mineralised system as previously reported gold, silver and copper mineralisation.
Catalina referenced previously reported silver grades of up to 90.3g/t Ag, copper grades of up to 2.03% Cu and surface rock chip results of up to 101g/t Au, 710g/t Ag and 7.04% Cu.
Historical surface rock chip sampling also returned tungsten values of up to 60.1% W, equivalent to 75.8% WO₃.
Catalina Executive Director Ross Cotton said,
“The identification of broad tungsten mineralisation, together with previously reported high grade gold, silver and copper, significantly enhances the exploration potential of the Santy Well Prospect at our Tallering Project. Historical exploration was primarily focused on gold and base metals, leaving the tungsten potential largely overlooked despite occurring within the same polymetallic system.”
To support the review, Catalina's geological team recently completed a reconnaissance visit to the project, during which historical workings and prospective areas were inspected, geological mapping was completed and 24 rock chip samples were collected for laboratory analysis.
The company said the results will be incorporated into its ongoing technical assessment.
Catalina is continuing to integrate historical drilling, geological mapping, surface geochemistry and new rock chip sampling to better understand the controls on mineralisation and evaluate the scale and significance of the tungsten opportunity.
The company's next steps are to complete the detailed technical review and interpretation of all historical exploration data, receive and interpret recent rock chip sampling results, and integrate historical drilling, mapping, geochemistry and new field mapping and sampling to refine the geological model and identify priority tungsten targets.
The company will also commence heritage consultation and approvals to support future on ground exploration activities, while designing follow up exploration programs including detailed geological mapping, geochemical soil sampling and drill testing, subject to the outcome of the technical review and statutory approvals.
