BMM begin diamond drilling at Gorge
Balkan Mining and Minerals have drilling underway at Gorge Lithium, designed to systematically test vertical plunge extensions along prospective pegmatite strikes at the Koshman and Nelson occurrences within the Canadian project.
Early sampling results including 1.8 metres at 3.75 per cent lithium oxide and 6.8 per cent in rock chips returned an early excitement to Gorge, while soil sampling yielding anomalous levels of lithium, caesium and tantalum defined further targets for a 12-hole campaign.
While preparing for drilling, mechanical stripping at Nelson revealed two more unmapped pegmatite targets near the Nelson discovery outcrop, demonstrating the project’s rich endowment.
BMM Managing Director Ross Cotton said it was very satisfying to have the company’s maiden campaign underway.
“We know from channel sampling that the Koshman and Nelson pegmatite outcrops are lithium bearing and we are extremely excited to learn more about the project’s geology from current drilling,” Mr Cotton said.
“The fact that we have encountered 2 more previously unmapped pegmatite occurrences whilst preparing for drilling at the Nelson outcrop demonstrates the exploration opportunity. Stay tuned for further drilling updates in the coming weeks and months.”
BMM has also begun detail mapping of its newly discovered pegmatites and will continue to look for fresh targets as it awaits the early results from the maiden campaign.
