Black Cat Syndicate (ASX:BC8) doubles Paulsens Gold Territory, eyes untapped high-grade potential
October 21, 2024In a prominent move for the future of its Paulsens Gold Operation, Black Cat Syndicate (ASX:BC8) has secured tenure for the Big Sarah prospect, expanding its landholding to 3,190km², following a detailed prospectivity review that signals a strategic push to unlock further resources in the Ashburton Basin, Western Australia.
Historically, Big Sarah has seen minimal exploration compared to neighbouring prospects like the Paulsens Mine, but the latest developments indicate a renewed focus on this promising region, which produced 220oz at an impressive 52.6g/t gold prior to 1940.
With limited modern exploration, Black Cat aims to harness new technologies and techniques to fully assess the area’s untapped potential.
As Black Cat Syndicate Managing Director Gareth Solly explains, “We see great potential for organic growth in the region and look forward to advancing on multiple fronts. Our near-mine and regional drilling will commence in the March 2025 quarter.”
Key Developments:
- The Big Sarah prospect has now been granted, allowing for the commencement of surface activities.
- Adjacent tenure of approximately 1,522km² has been acquired, doubling the greater Paulsens project area.
- The Ashburton Basin region, hosting gold and critical minerals, is set for upcoming geophysical and mapping programs.
The move is not just about expanding the territory but targeting the discovery of high-grade mineralisation. The Baring Downs Fault Zone, part of the Ashburton Basin, has a 140km strike length that is considered highly prospective for gold and silver.
Previous exploration identified anomalies, with historical samples returning values as high as 50.6g/t gold, yet despite this promise, much of the fault remains unexplored.
Black Cat’s focus is multifaceted, with exploration targeting both gold and critical minerals such as antimony.
The company has also delineated several promising prospects within the newly acquired tenure. The 2025 drill program aims to define these targets further.
The larger Paulsens Gold Operation already boasts resources of 406koz at 9.5g/t gold and has a planned production of 177koz over the next four years.
With the debt facility documentation advancing and the processing plant refurbishment on track for completion by December 2024, Black Cat is positioned to capitalise on this momentum.
As Solly stated, “The exploration potential across our new and existing tenure is tremendous, and we are excited to kick off 2025 with a robust regional exploration campaign.” Black Cat’s strategy is clear: unlock the value of its underexplored assets while ensuring the longevity and profitability of its established operations at Paulsens.
The expansion of the Big Sarah tenement is just the beginning of what could be a transformative year for the company.
