Black Canyon (ASX: BCA) confirm thick manganese discovery at KR1

After more than a year-and-a-half of hard work, Black Canyon Manganese has confirmed high-grade manganese intersections at its KR1 prospect within its Balfour Manganese Field in Western Australia.

Assays up to 16m @ 15.1% Mn from the 7,000m RC drilling confirm thick manganese-enriched shale mineralisation.

Intersections include the top 15.1% grade and also:

o 22m@13.3%Mnfrom11m(KRR005)

o 24m@13.0%Mnfrom8m(KRRC006

o 27m@11.8%Mnfrom4m(KRRC009)

o 15m@12.9%Mnfromsurface(KRRC014) o 23m@10.4%Mnfrom4m(KRRC016)

The results support similar geology, grade, and mineralisation thickness to nearby Flanagan Bore (171Mt @ 10.3% MRE).

The 1500m KR1 discovery could be just the beginning as more results flow in the coming months.

At the same time as the latest results, leaching testwork measured graphite variability with results expected before the initial purification processes.

Black Canyon Executive Director Brendan Cummins said the metallurgical findings could be used as feedstocks for manganese oxide concentrate in the steel industry and HPMSM production, per Black Canyon Executive Director Brendan Cummins.

“Successfully drilling the KR1 deposit and the other Balfour Manganese targets was the culmination of 18 months of work since the targets were initially identified and acquired,” Mr Cummins said.

“Significantly, it is our second major manganese discovery in the Balfour Manganese Field, and it hopefully won’t be our last,” he added.

The Company hopes to deliver an MRE for the Balfour manganese field soon.
