Argent (ASX:ARD) go widespread at Copperhead
Argent Minerals’ rock chip sampling program has confirmed extensive high-grade copper and silver mineralisation from one of three newly identified prospects within its Copperhead project in the West Australian Gascoyne.
The Illirie North Prospect sits on the western limb of a synclinal structure with a long 2.1 kilometre stretch of open mineralisation and has now returned high-grade assays exceeding a quarter of copper.
Argent Managing Director Mr Pedro Kastellorizos said the Perth-based explorer was delighted to have visual observations confirmed by excellent assay results.
“The mineralisation now extends over 2.1km in length from the 2022 and 2023 geochemical sampling programs. To date, the silver and copper grades have been the highest received over the Copperhead Project with the mineralisation structurally controlled over these extensive folded synclines,” Mr Kastellorizos said.
Argent has identified more visible outcropping mineralisation to inspect and awaits another 100 geochemical samples awaiting analysis at the Perth lab with the promise of replicating the first high-grade pass on its other prospects.

Gascoyne metals
While the Gascoyne has attracted a new wave of rare earth and lithium exploration, the region has been proven as an ancient and highly prospective area for base metals, gold, and uranium, while being significantly less explored than the Pilbara.
Exploration at Copperhead in the 1960’s returned high-grade results which were never followed up on, a possible mistake that Argent is unlikely to replicate with copper well in the sights as an integral metal for multi-national miners.
