American Tungsten & Antimony (ASX:AT4) moves toward drilling at historic Fraction Lode as Dutch Mountain strategy advances

American Tungsten & Antimony has taken another operational step in advancing its United States tungsten strategy, submitting a Notice of Intent to commence exploration drilling at the historic Fraction Lode mine within the Dutch Mountain Project in Utah.

The move comes as the company progresses refurbishment of its fully permitted Dutch Mountain tungsten processing mill and continues positioning the project as part of a broader domestic supply chain initiative for critical minerals.

The submission signals the start of the regulatory process for a targeted drilling program designed to test extensions to historically mined tungsten mineralisation.

Highlights

  • Notice of Intent submitted to allow exploration drilling at the historic Fraction Lode tungsten mine within the Dutch Mountain Project, Utah.
  • Refurbishment underway at the fully permitted Dutch Mountain tungsten processing mill located on private land.
  • Permit approval for drilling is expected without undue delay, enabling the first drill program targeting extensions to historically mined mineralisation.
  • Fraction Lode sits within the Dutch Mountain district, which also hosts historic mines including Stardust and the E.H.B. Lode.
  • The company is advancing the Tennessee Mountain and Nightingale tungsten projects in Nevada as part of a regional development plan.
  • A dedicated team has been allocated to progress the company’s tungsten assets and development strategy.

The Fraction Lode forms part of the Dutch Mountain tungsten district in Utah, an area with a history of tungsten production and several established mineralised systems.

The proposed drilling program is designed to confirm historical mineralisation associated with the Fraction Lode workings and to test extensions to known structures along strike and at depth from historic mine development.

Importantly, the exploration program is progressing alongside refurbishment of the Dutch Mountain processing facility, acquired earlier this year and located on private land under state level permitting, with a processing capacity of 400 tons per day expandable to 850tpd.

The facility last processed ore from the Fraction Lode in 2017 and currently represents the sole permitted tungsten mill within the Clifton Gold Hill Mining District.

From a strategic perspective, the presence of existing processing infrastructure within trucking distance of the Fraction Lode provides a potential pathway for integrating exploration success with regional processing capability.

The mill is expected to support potential future production from the Dutch Mountain district as well as surrounding projects.

American Tungsten & Antimony Managing Director Andre Booyzen said,

Submitting the Notice of Intent to drill at Fraction Lode is a crucial step in progressing the Dutch Mountain Tungsten Project. The upcoming drilling program aims to confirm and expand known tungsten mineralisation at this historically productive mine, while refurbishment of our fully permitted Dutch Mountain mill continues in parallel. Alongside our hub and spoke development approach, which includes the Tennessee Mountain and Nightingale projects in Nevada, this positions AT4 to play a significant role in strengthening the U.S. domestic tungsten supply chain. The NOI submission marks a clear shift for the Company from acquisition to execution as we work to unlock the potential of these assets.”

The Dutch Mountain asset also forms part of a broader regional portfolio, with the company progressing the Tennessee Mountain and Nightingale tungsten projects in Nevada, both located in historically productive tungsten districts.

At Tennessee Mountain, a Notice of Intent has also been lodged to conduct exploration drilling and the company is in the process of gaining approvals from the United States Forest Service.

Together, these projects underpin a regional hub and spoke development concept under assessment by the company.

Under this model, Dutch Mountain, Tennessee Mountain and Nightingale could act as district scale processing centres supporting third party toll milling arrangements, with concentrates transported to a central refining facility capable of producing downstream tungsten products including ammonium paratungstate, tungsten oxide and tungsten powder.

The concept remains subject to exploration outcomes, feasibility studies, regulatory approvals and market conditions, with no production decision yet made.

The company’s strategy is unfolding against a backdrop of strengthening tungsten market conditions, with prices recently surpassing about US$1,150 per MTU compared with around US$300 per MTU a year earlier, reflecting tightening global supply and increasing strategic demand outside China.

In the near term, attention will focus on receipt of drilling permits and the commencement of exploration drilling at Fraction Lode, alongside ongoing refurbishment of the Dutch Mountain mill and further exploration assessment across the district.

These steps form part of the company’s stated objective to re establish tungsten production in the Dutch Mountain district while contributing to the development of a domestic tungsten supply chain in the United States.
