Adelong Gold (ASX:ADG) extends exploration footprint at Apollo Project with regional soil program
October 21, 2025Adelong Gold Limited (ASX:ADG) has launched a broad regional soil sampling program at its 100%-owned Apollo Gold Project in Victoria, marking a deliberate step toward expanding its discovery pipeline across one of the state’s most prospective geological corridors.
The program will systematically test an 11-kilometre strike length along the Strathbogie Granite contact, where historical workings and recent drilling have confirmed high-grade gold mineralisation.
Highlights
-
Regional soil sampling commenced across EL006430
-
11km of strike to be tested along the Strathbogie Granite contact
-
Targeting structures analogous to Apollo-style mineralisation
-
Follow-up soil and rock chip programs planned for anomalous areas
-
Drilling to follow for maiden resource definition and strike extensions
The Apollo Gold Project sits within the Walhalla Gold Belt, part of Victoria’s highly endowed Melbourne Zone that has produced several high-grade discoveries, including Southern Cross Gold’s Sunday Creek.
The new regional work underscores Adelong Gold’s systematic approach to exploration and its intent to establish a portfolio-scale presence across the region.
The soil sampling campaign follows the success of the maiden diamond drilling program completed in July 2025, which confirmed the company’s exploration model.
Assay results released earlier this month demonstrated extensive mineralisation within the Dig Fault Zone, including 10.9 metres at 3.26 grams per tonne gold, and 27 metres at 1.69 grams per tonne gold with sub-intervals up to 7.58 grams per tonne.
These intercepts correlated strongly with historical drilling around the old Meade’s Mine workings, reinforcing the continuity of mineralisation beneath and along strike.
Managing Director Ian Holland said the new regional program was designed to extend the company’s understanding of the broader system.
“The start of this regional program marks the next logical step in expanding our understanding of the Apollo system and its broader geological setting. The Apollo discovery confirmed the presence of a gold–antimony mineralising system with striking similarities to Costerfield and Sunday Creek,” he said.
The company’s strategic expansion of its tenement footprint, including a recently lodged exploration licence application covering an additional 18 kilometres of granite contact, brings the project area to approximately 220 square kilometres.
This enlarges Adelong’s search window along the same structural corridor that hosts the Apollo-style mineralisation, creating scope for repeat discoveries beneath shallow cover.
The Apollo Project’s geological setting is particularly noteworthy, sharing structural and lithological similarities with the nearby Sunday Creek deposit.
The project has already returned standout historical results, including 39.5 metres at 7.25 grams per tonne gold from 118.6 metres and 28 metres at 10.2 grams per tonne from 138 metres, confirming the potential for high-grade mineralisation over significant widths.
Adelong Gold’s exploration activities at Apollo are being conducted in parallel with planning for the next drilling phase, which will include infill drilling to underpin a maiden resource estimate as well as step-out holes targeting depth and strike extensions.
Together with exploration at the Lauriston Project, adjacent to the Fosterville Gold Mine, the company is shaping a Victorian gold portfolio that offers both near-term resource definition and long-term discovery potential.
The commencement of regional soil sampling at Apollo represents more than routine fieldwork, signalling Adelong Gold’s transition from proof-of-concept drilling to a large-scale, data-driven exploration campaign.
By methodically expanding along a proven geological trend, the company is positioning itself to unlock a series of potential gold–antimony systems within one of Australia’s most prolific gold belts.
For investors following the resurgence of Victorian gold exploration, Apollo stands as an emerging story of scale, structure, and persistence in the search for the next major discovery.
